A2 : Current Piece

This piece above is the current piece of art work that I am working on, as explained on my A2 artwork blogs this piece has evolved through the inspiration of Janathan Darby and Katie Degroot, via the theme of 'Change'.
Within this piece of artwork I have included a painting of my mum in the style of Janathan Darby and just as Jonathan includes personal / unique factors into his pieces to do with the individual involved in the painting as have I. In the bottom left hand corner is an image that I have transfered which is of me and my mum whilst I was a young child. The text which is also apparant is personal to both me and my mum including things such at the months we were born and the symbols of our star sign. As mentioned previously this piece has not yet been completed and further plans for this piece will include the natural forms of flowers in which Katie Degroot involves in her artwork. I feel that this piece is all about layers of depth and understanding just like how life maybe applied to ones life.

AS : Product Design

Here are photograhs of a lamp that I had made as part of my Product Design project during AS level. The project was based around a client and we had to then go away and come up with different design ideas and make the product based on the specification the client had given us. The client that I worked along side was my counsin, I had come up with different questions created to give me a deeper insight as to what she liked. The things I had to consider when goiung through the designing process was that the lamp had to be a mood lamp, fresh colours such as greens had to be included, and soft / traditional mateirals incorporated into the product, however still have a modern contempary twist. As part of the soft / traditional materials the client wanted within the product I decided to use Plywood, Plywood was an ideal wood because of the pale natural colour it was made up of, this went well with the fresh green colour scheme that the client wanted the lamp to adopt. Finally I decided that in order to tie in a contempary twist within the lamp that the modern material such as arylic would be the make up of 'windows' that occurred throught the lamps design. By frosting the acrylic this gave off the radient / suttle light the client wanted to be achieved once the light was lit.

AS : 4

Above are images taken from the final project of my AS course. I created a 3D sculpture influenced by a variety of artists. This piece concluded the project by bringing together all the inprirational artists I studied throughout the topic, the chosen topic being 'Trees'. The artists which I looked at were, Tord Boontje, Gustav Klimt and Andy Smith.
Here are just a couple images that I had taken of the sculpture, I also took a different variety of images whilst the sculpture was situated in with trees, just like how the artist Tord Boontje does with his artwork. The sculpture images were then used as part of my final art exam at AS level, I did observational drawings from the photos and also included other materials such as wire to make the final piece itself 3D.

AS: 3

This piece of artwork was produced through observation drawing from photographs I had took from an instrument. This is a final piece which concluded my area of research for the topic 'Still Life' covered at AS level. The final piece itself was inspired through the combination of two artists, the first which has been previously mentioned, Janet Blumenthal and the second was David Hockney. David Hockney is an artist who produces images through a series of repeated photographs of one particular object/buildings. I became inspired by David Hockney because I felt that the techniques in which he adopts into his work is very clever and unique.

AS: 2

Above is a piece of artwork that was inspired by my research artist Janet Blumenthal. This piece of artwork was created through observation of Janet Blumenthals existing artwork. This piece of art was produced in order to give me an insight and a feel as to how the artist works so in essence broadens my skills and techniques for further studying into this artist or for future observations pieces.

AS: 1

The first artist that I decided to study at AS level was Janet Blumenthal. The chosen topic for the AS project was still life and Janet Blumenthal also deals with this genre. Janet Blumenthal bases her pieces of art work around the theme of instruments and the thing that I found most attractive about her work were the layers and details that she involves in her artwork. Not only were it the layers and the detailing involved within her artwork that attracted me to her work but it was also the techniques she adopted to draw the images.
Above are images of instruments that I took myself which were inspired by Janet Blumenthal, I basically set up scenes involving the instruments and photographed them from different angles which I then went onto creating my own work from via observational drawings, in the style of Janet Blumenthal.

A2 : 5

This artwork is a response piece to Jonathan Darby's artwork. Not only have I just worked in the style of Jonathan Darby I have also tried to combine the two artists together. As well as the combination of the two artists styles I have also used this piece for different experimentation techniques. Within this piece you can see images of flowers /  natural forms which I've included in order to tie in the style of Katie Degroot. I have also experimented in this piece by using transfer techniques, again I felt it was important to produce a piece of art that reflected my sketchbook and include experimentations that occurred within my sketchbook onto a larger piece to show off the skills I have adopted. In the bottom left hand corner of the above piece I have transferred the image I worked from to produce this painting onto the canvas. The transfer became a success because the way in which the imaged looks worn suits the mood / fell given off by the image.
